Media Advisory--Legislators to Visit Autism Center
Two Southern Illinois legislators will visit Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11. State Sen. Dave Luechtefeld, R-Okawville, and Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, are making the visit to draw attention to the prevalence of autism and ongoing efforts at the University to make a difference for those with autism, as well as their families and caregivers.
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the legislators’ visit to the center, located at the Rehabilitation Institute in the Wham Building, Room 124. The legislators will tour the center and discuss autism and what the center does to assist children with autism, their families and professionals in the autism field.
The center, providing valuable services since 2003, assists children from ages one through college age along with their families, caregivers and professionals in the field. The facility also provides SIU students within that field with a valuable educational experience.
