by Kristen George

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Youngsters who love baseball and want to improve their skills will want to check out the Saluki Baseball Camp at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in June.

Continuing Education and Outreach is offering the camp June 10-13 for players ages 7-13. Check-in for Saluki Baseball Camp will be at 7:30 a.m. June 10; the camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Abe Martin Field on the SIU campus.

Camp participants will divide into separate age groups to assure more individual instruction. All campers will have access to all SIU Carbondale baseball facilities and receive individual attention from coaches. The Saluki Baseball Camp instruction will cover hitting, bunting, base running, infield and outfield play, pitching and specific position work. The goal of the camp is helping participants improve skills while gaining confidence. Many former campers have experienced success at the high school level and some have even gone on to play college and professional baseball.

The registration fee before May 24 will be $175.  The cost is $185 after May 24.  Special rates apply for those registering in groups of six or more.
