Touch of Nature will host 5K trail run April 6

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The inaugural Rocky Ledges 5K Trail Run is set for April 6, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center.

Registration begins at 8:15 a.m., and the run is open to all ages.  Racing begins at 9 a.m., with different heats starting every 10 minutes.  The final heat is at 10:30 a.m., with a family heat for those with younger children.  The winners’ ceremony begins at 11 a.m.

Touch of Nature Environmental Center is about eight miles south of Carbondale on Giant City Road.

Post-race activities include fun, refreshments, and live entertainment, with run participants receiving tickets for food and beverages.  “Soul Glo,” a Carbondale-based soul band, is the featured musical guest performer beginning at 11:30 a.m.  Activities will end at 3:30 p.m.

Participants have three different registration options.  The trail run, social activity and T-shirt is $31, while the trail run and social activity package is $26.  Event supporters may enjoy the after-race social activity for $11.
