by Tiana Russell

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The spring 2013 “All the Single Ladies Anti-Valentines Drag Show” is coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale on Friday, Feb. 8.

The 15th annual spring show begins at 8 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  Admission is $5, and the public is welcome.

Caleb McKinley-Portee, aka “Papa Bear,” will direct the show featuring several well-known drag performers, many of whom have won regional, state and national female/male impersonator pageants.  Performers set to appear include Veronica Belle Headley, Kara T. Belle, Sierra Skye D'Leight, and Rochelle D'Leight.

Audience members will also have an opportunity to join in the fun by registering in a free drawing for a chance to participate in the suicide drag.  Two drawing winners chosen during intermission will transform -- via makeup and clothing -- into the opposite gender.  The winners will then perform onstage and can keep their tips.

The Saluki Rainbow Network, Student Center Special Programs and Center Events and University Housing are show sponsors.  For more information, call 618/453-3438 or follow them at twitter.com/siuc_sc_sp.
