Human Resources department moves to Miles Hall

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- All of the components of SIU Carbondale’s Department of Human Resources are now under one roof.

The final move from five buildings on Elizabeth Street to Miles Hall, 1255 Douglas Drive, was completed Nov. 20, said Jennifer L. Watson, human resources department director.

Watson said the move will create greater efficiency by having various human resource sections -- benefits, records, payroll, employment, and data control -- in one building.  With the exception of payroll, which was in Miles Hall, a majority of human resources functions and personnel were in buildings along Elizabeth Street.

The department has 33 full-time employees and nine student employees.

“Our desire is to be more efficient by being in one building and we will be able to serve employees and applicants much better,” she said.  “Our clients, employees and retirees will benefit by going to one location rather than having to go to several different locations.”

The move by the Department of Human Resources was also coupled with the move by Procurement Services out of Miles Hall to Wakeland Hall, 1215 Douglas Drive, to make space available for human resources.
