University to host Saluki Swim Camp 2012
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki Swim Camp 2012 is set for July 9-13 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Student Recreation Center.
This camp for children ages 8-12 provides an enjoyable swimming and diving experience. It is not a “learn how to swim camp.” To enjoy the camp’s water activities, participants need to be able to swim a minimum of 25 yards.
The camp will take place in the Recreation Center’s Olympic-sized natatorium. The pool features 10, 50-meter swimming lanes, 16, 25-yard swimming lanes, eight diving boards and a 16-foot-deep diving well. In addition to swimming and diving, scheduled activities include a pizza party, canoeing and paddle boating at the campus beach (weather permitting) as well as bowling, billiards and arts and crafts at the Student Center.
The camp will begin on July 9 with daily check-in between 7:30 and 8 a.m. and checkout 4:30-5 p.m. These extended check-in and checkout times offer convenience for working parents.
Registration is $199 for participants who register before June 22 and $229 for all registrations after the early registration deadline. The registration fee includes daily lunches, a souvenir T-shirt and limited accident medical camper coverage.
Saluki Swim Camp sign-up is on a first-come, first serve basis and it does fill up quickly so organizers encourage early registration.
