Tennis camp planned for children 10 and under
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Help your children kick start their love for the game of tennis!
Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Division of Continuing Education, in conjunction with Intercollegiate Athletics, is offering Saluki 10 and Under Tennis Camp June 18-22.
This camp is for boys and girl ages 10 and under who are in the beginning stages of learning techniques including tennis strokes and rules of the game, or who just simply want to have some fun. The U.S. Open “orange ball” that doesn’t bounce over the kids’ heads will be used to promote good technique. The camp will also use the smaller USTA 10 and under official court sizes to promote early success in playing points. Top college players will assist Audra Nothwehr, the University’s head women’s tennis coach, with the camp activities.
Participants are asked to bring their own racket, hat or visor, sunscreen, water bottle or cooler and shoes designed for tennis play.
The camp meets from 10 a.m. to noon at the campus tennis courts. The registration fee is $115 for single registrations and $105 for multi-camper registrations.
