College of Science awards scholarships
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Several students recently earned scholarships from Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s College of Science.
Austen Alan Barnett, a doctoral student in biology, received the Rose and Essie Padgett Scholarship Award. He is the spouse of Meagan Barnett of Carbondale and the son of Glenn and Kelly Barnett of Boonville, Ind.
Jaimi Mathias, a doctoral student in psychology, received the Rose and Essie Padgett Scholarship Award. She is the fiancé of Alex Ramsey and the daughter of Connie and Allen Mathias of Imperial, Mo.
Shantini Ramakrishnan, a senior in zoology, received the Michael W. Wolff Memorial Scholarship. He previously received a scholarship from the Illinois Federation for Outdoor Resources, honors from Illinois chapter of The Wildlife Society and made the dean’s list three semesters.
Kaitlyn Jarrett, a freshman in zoology, received the Science Dean’s Scholarship. She graduated from Coulterville High School in May and is the daughter of Melissa and Robert Jarrett of Coulterville. She was an Illinois State Scholar, was on the honor roll and was selected to receive the SIU Academic Scholarship for Freshmen.
