Media Advisory -- Service Learning Awards
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the presentation of the 2012 Striving for Excellence Outstanding Volunteerism Awards on Tuesday, May 1, at 5 p.m. in the Ohio Room on the second floor of the Student Center.
The Center for Service Learning and Volunteerism and the Sustainability Council will present several awards recognizing students for their volunteerism, community service and commitment.
The Delyte Morris Award, named for the late University president, honors students and student organizations for commitment to community service. The United States Presidential Service Awards, from The President’s Council on Civic Participation, recognize volunteerism and community service on a national level. The Environmental Ambassador Awards go to students who volunteer at least 30 hours during the school year for projects related to the environment.
Chancellor Rita Cheng will help present the awards. An awards reception begins at 4:30 p.m.
