Annuitants Association director to visit campus

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The leader of a statewide organization that watches out for university employees’ retirement benefits will give a presentation at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on the potential impact of proposed changes to pensions and benefits.

Linda Brookhart, executive director of the State Universities Annuitants Association, will speak at 7 p.m. May 7 in Ballroom B at the Student Center.  The, discussion, sponsored by the local chapter of the SUAA, is free and open to the public and will include light refreshments.

Brookhart, who serves as a lobbyist for the SUAA, is focusing her talk on current state university employees, including civil service, administrative professionals and faculty.

Changes are in store for the pensions of such employees, and Brookhart will discuss her experience with the Higher Education Legislative Coalition, the Illinois Retirement Security Initiative, the State Universities Retirement Roundtable and other groups involved in such issues.
