by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Undergraduates at Southern Illinois University Carbondale may now apply to represent their fellow students as president or vice president of the Undergraduate Student Government.

The campus-wide election will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 11-12, with voting locations on the first floor of the Student Center, near the north escalators, and in the Student Recreation Center lobby.

To be a part of USG, you must be a University student with at least part-time status (except during the summer semester) and must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA.  You must also be in good academic and disciplinary standing and have sufficient credit hours to be at least a sophomore.  To be eligible, you also can’t currently hold an office in any other Registered Student Organization or student organization.

Those interested in a USG position should visit the Student Government Office at the Student Center and pick up a candidate petition form and submit the completed forms, including at least 200 signatures, no later than 4 p.m. March 30 at the office.

A mandatory pre-campaign meeting is set for 5 p.m. April 9 at a location to be set.  All candidates or their recognized proxies must attend.
