University to host pre-tryout cheerleading clinic

by Michelle Winkler

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Do you have what it takes to become a college cheerleader?

The Salukis pre-tryout clinic will prepare current high school and college students for SIU Carbondale cheerleading tryouts and becoming a college cheerleader.  The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 24 at the University’s Student Recreation Center.

The vision for the SIU Carbondale cheerleading squad is working and having fun together, encouraging and supporting one another like family.  In addition to getting a high-quality education and cheering at the premier Saluki college football and basketball venues, SIU cheerleaders receive many additional benefits.  These benefits include: two tickets to each home football and basketball game; uniforms, shoes and warm-ups; per diems during travel to away games and access to SIU Athletics’ trainers, nutritionists, sports psychologists as well as the weight room and the strength and conditioning staff.

The registration fee is $60 and provides participants with a T-shirt, snacks and lunch.
