by Pete Rosenbery

Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend an availability with Rupert T. Borgsmiller at 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.  Director David Yepsen will host the event in the Institute lobby.

Borgsmiller, executive director of the Illinois State Board of Elections, will present, “The Evolution of Elections since Creation of the State Board of Elections,” during a luncheon lecture at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Student Center Ballroom B.  As the March 20 primary nears, Borgsmiller will discuss efforts to keep the state’s election process clean.

A native of Murphysboro, Borgsmiller did post-graduate study in SIU Carbondale’s Master of Public Administration program.

The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute is sponsoring Borgsmiller’s lecture. The discussion will also be available via live stream for free on the Institute’s website, paulsimoninstitute.org/.
