‘3Free Program’ available this summer

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale is offering a free sample to qualifying students.

Undergraduate students who have never taken a college class at SIU Carbondale may be eligible for three credit hours free under the 3Free Program this summer.

Qualifying students live in the southern 34 counties of Illinois and have earned an ACT composite score of 24 or better (or the SAT equivalent).

The 3Free program gives new SIU Carbondale students a chance to try out life as a Saluki before the fall semester begins.  They’ll become familiar with campus, meet fellow students, become acquainted with faculty members, and they’ll enjoy some of the benefits of being on campus during the summer.  Students who plan to attend a different college or university may be eligible as well.

The 3Free program covers the tuition but not the fees.

Eligible counties are: Alexander, Bond, Clay, Clinton, Crawford, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Massac, Monroe, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Richland, Randolph, Saline, St. Clair, Union, Wabash, Washington, Wayne, White, and Williamson.

More information on the program specifically and the summer semester generally is available at www.summer.siuc.edu.  Interested students may also call 618/536-4405 or email admissions@siu.edu for more information.
