Education college to host scholarship brown bag

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Fifth Annual Scholarship Brown Bag Series from the College of Education and Human Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale continues with a presentation at noon on Feb. 29.

Cameron Carlson, assistant professor of educational leadership in the educational administration and higher education department, will speak during the lunch hour in Wham Room 219, the Dean’s Conference Room.  All faculty, staff, students and community members are welcome.

Carlson’s presentation is “Emerging University School Partnerships with Rural High School Utilizing Student Performance Data Displays:  A Case Study.”  Carlson is a triple alumnus of Wichita State University, earning his doctorate in educational leadership, his master’s in educational administration and supervision and his bachelor’s in secondary English. 

Prior to joining the SIU Carbondale faculty in 2010, he was a high school assistant principal then associate principal/academic dean.  He has a strong background in school improvement and has worked with public and private schools and districts to focus on improving the learning environment for the benefit of students and teachers.  His study and research interests include data-informed decision-making, leadership capacity development, instructional leadership, student performance data displays and organizational sense making.  He has presented his research findings at national and state conferences and in publications as well.

Bring your lunch to the presentation if you like.  Organizers will provide light refreshments.
