Student Center can help with Valentine’s Day gifts

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- If you’re looking for a unique Valentine’s gift for someone special or a treat for yourself, you’re sure to find it at a trio of February events at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Student Center.

The Semi-Annual College Poster Sale is happening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Feb. 6-10.  Visit the Student Center Art Gallery to find a wide array of posters and prints.  You’ll discover concert, movie, music, CD, humorous and even giant subway posters along with photography and fine art prints.

The Valentine’s Day Craft Sale comes to the first floor Art Gallery on Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Craftsmen and women from a wide region will be offering an eclectic blend of arts and crafts for sale.

The Student Programming Council is also presenting “Love Me, Love Me Not” on Valentine’s Day.  Stop by the north escalator area and buy a flower for your sweetheart.  Each flower is in a clear floral sleeve and accompanied by a blank card for you to add a personal message.  Flowers are $1 each.

All events are open to the public.  For more information, contact the Student Center Craft Shop at 618/453-3636 or visit the website at www.siucstudentcenter.org.
