Dawgs Nite Out kicks off spring semester
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Dawgs Nite Out kicks off 2012 and the spring semester at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in true Saluki style.
The night of entertainment, activities and food for University students is set for 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Jan. 20, at the Student Center. Most of the happenings are free for students with a valid University ID card. Be sure to visit the Dawgs Nite Out tables at the Art Gallery or the International Lounge to get your wristband and be eligible for great door prizes.
Here’s your chance to hop on the mechanical bull for a wild ride, play laser tag or get your caricature drawn. You can create personalized dog tags, make your own street signs or customize a silicone bracelet. Win cool prizes playing bingo and participating in casino night activities.
Commemorate the evening by visiting the photo booth. You can also create your own wax hand or get a henna tattoo. The evening’s entertainment includes the zany comedy and unique music of the Midwest Dueling Pianos along with live shows from WIDB radio and SPC-TV. There will also be a 10 p.m. showing, free for students, of the supernatural horror flick “Paranormal Activity 3.”
Many of the Student Center’s businesses and restaurants will also offer discount pricing and specials during Dawgs Nite Out including $1 pastries from Starbucks, $1.99 smoothies from Saluki Sweets, and assorted specials on sandwiches, meals, shakes and iced coffees from McDonald’s. The University Bookstore is offering prizes and giveaways and you can enjoy $1 bowling and billiards games at the Bowling add Billiards Center.
The action wraps up with a free late-night pancake breakfast about 11 p.m.
