How long at SIU Carbondale: 33 years in January
Hometown: I grew up in De Soto, but have lived in Carterville longer than any place.
When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a beautician -- I loved to “play” with my little sister’s long, blonde hair.
If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why? A forensic scientist -- CSI has rubbed off on me.
What is something you still want to accomplish in life? Stay “young” and healthy enough to keep up with my two precious grandsons.
If you could pick an actor/actress to play you in a movie, who would you pick and why? Meg Ryan. She is adorable and has a great sense of humor.
Cats or dogs? Dogs. Marge is the best!
What is your favorite food and why? Any homemade, starchy comfort food.
Who has inspired you, and how? My mother. She was an awesome person with an unprecedented moral character.
What would you like your gravestone to say about you? She lived, she loved, she laughed -- and she met the deadline!
Favorite cartoon character? Why? Maxine. She tells it like it is.
