CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Art students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale are gearing up for the annual preview sales preparatory to the annual Holiday Craft Sale at the Student Center.

The preview sales are Nov. 30.  The Holiday Craft Sale is Dec. 1-3.

Here’s what’s on tap for the preview sales, as hosted by Registered Student Organizations within the School of Art and Design at SIU Carbondale.

• GAPP Mini-Print Preview Sale -- GAPP (Graduate Association of Painters and Printmakers) holds a preview sale in the “clean room” upstairs in the Glove Factory, a School of Art and Design facility located at 432 S. Washington Ave. in Carbondale.  The sale is 4-8 p.m.  The Glove Factory is also home to the Surplus Gallery and studio space for students.  Attending this preview also gives patrons a chance to sneak a peek at artists’ working space and gallery space.

• Southern Glass Works -- Glass artwork will from SIU Carbondale students will be represented at the craft sale, but to get a look at some of the facilities art students use, visit the preview sale at the Glass House (1002 W. Whitney St. in Carbondale).  The sale is Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 4-8 p.m.

• Southern Clay Works -- The holiday pottery sale is 4-8 p.m. on Nov. 30 and again 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the ceramics studio of the Pulliam Hall Industrial Wing.

Proceeds from these sales benefit the students in the organizations hosting them.  Students use the money to buy materials for art, and also to bring visiting artists to campus.
