Faculty, staff welcome at Dec. 1 workshop

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Honesty and integrity in our interactions with those we come into contact with at work play an important role in how others perceive us, our work, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

“The Value of Voltage:  Connect the Disconnects” is a Dec. 1 workshop from the University’s Labor and Employee Relations and all campus faculty and staff are welcome to attend.  The presentation is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Student Health Center Auditorium.

According to Carol Fisher, workforce learning and development officer, one negative idea, attitude or image can have a significant impact on those we encounter so it is vital to project a professional image at all times and work to minimize any negativity.  This program will address workplace friction and offer ideas for diffusing it.  She’ll discuss actions we can all take to develop solutions to address campus problems and direct our communication to focus on positive solutions.

Those attending may register upon arrival or in advance by sending an RSVP email to Fisher at cefisher@siu.edu.
