Student Center offering Halloween fun, specials
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Student Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is celebrating Halloween with assorted ghostly fun and specials.
Wear your costume and come to the Craft Shop on the lower level between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, to register for the costume contest and get your photo taken for judging. You can also enjoy free candy while you’re there.
The costume contest is open to all University students, faculty and staff. Costumes must be recognizable, original and creative. There will be prizes for the top two student and top two faculty/staff costumes.
The Craft Shop is selling cool vintage costumes through Halloween, too.
You can also participate in a wide assortment of walk-in craft activities, many seasonal in nature, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Craft Shop. Face painting and henna tattoos are just $1 each or you can make a mask or wax hands for $4 each. Or, ramp it up by making a plaster hand; the cost is $8 each.
All ages are welcome. A 15-minute time limit may apply per sitting, to assure everyone gets the opportunity to participate. If you want someone to create a henna tattoo for you, the cost for an artist’s time is $6 for 15 minutes.
Bowling and Billiards is offering special costume bowling from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Those wearing costumes get the student rate of $1 shoe rental and $1 games.
In addition, there will be special menus and pricing at some of the Student Center eateries on Halloween.
