SIU Press plans Homecoming sidewalk sale

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- SIU Press at Southern Illinois University Carbondale celebrates Homecoming weekend with drastic reductions.

The SIU Press brings back its annual sidewalk sale 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Oct. 13-14.  The SIU Press is behind the McLafferty Annex.

The sale promises discounted books on Lincoln, the Civil War, John Dewey, regional history, botany, poetry and more.  Out of print titles in particular will be offered at steep discounts.

Those unable to make the sidewalk sale still have the opportunity to save.  The press is offering an online history book sale, particularly books about the Civil War and about Abraham Lincoln, from now through December.  For example, cloth-cover hardbound books from “The Papers of Ulysses S. Grant” series are 75 percent off, with a wide selection of other titles available for less than $10.  To take advantage of this sale, visit www.siupress.com for a list of sale books and the promotion code.

The SIU Press has been part of SIU Carbondale since 1956.  SIU Press publishes trade and general interest books, specializing in Lincoln, the Civil War, regional history both for Southern Illinois and Chicago, the Crab Orchard poetry series, and scholarly books, specializing in theater, film, rhetoric and composition, aviation, botany and Dewey studies (pertaining to American philosopher John Dewey).
