Guest artist, concert choir to present performances

CARBONDALE, Ill.  -- The School of Music at Southern Illinois University Carbondale presents back-to-back nights of music this week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 5, guest artist Janice K. Wenger presents a free piano performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Altgeld Hall, Room 110. 

Wenger is professor of piano and collaborative piano at the University of Missouri, as well as serving as coordinator of the keyboard area there.  Her performance credits include official accompanist for the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national and division student competitions for more than 10 years. She also has served as division president and national vice president for MTNA. 

On Thursday, Oct. 6, the SIU Carbondale Concert Choir performs in Shryock Auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m.  This is a free performance.

The SIU Carbondale Concert Choir has been especially active on the road in recent years, with a four-city tour in China to its credit as well as appearances at prestigious venues closer to home, including Orchestra Hall in Chicago as part of the inauguration ceremonies for SIU Carbondale Chancellor Rita Cheng.
