Ten questions with ... Pam Hackbart-Dean

Job on campus/department you work in:  director of Special Collections Research Center at Morris Library

 

How long at SIUC:  Five years

 

Hometown:  Little Rock, Arkansas

 

When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up?  An elementary school teacher

 

If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why?  I guess a travel agent.  I enjoy planning family trips and would love to get paid to travel!

 

What is something you still want to accomplish in life?  Visit Oregon and Alaska so I can say I have been to all 50 states.

 

What was the first “album” you ever bought, and was it an LP, 8-track or CD?  “Partridge Family Album” on cassette tape.  I was a big fan of David Cassidy (and only 7 at the time).

 

What is one random fact about you?  I worked for a lobbyist organization in D.C. that supported public parks and rails to trails.

 

Cats or dogs?  Dogs, because they give you love no matter what kind of day they had.

 

Who has inspired you, and how?  My husband.  He’s a selfless, smart, hard-working man who puts his family first.

 

What would you like your gravestone to say about you?  She done good.

 

Favorite cartoon character? Why?  Charlie Brown.  He was a klutz with a good heart.
