Fundraiser to benefit Child Development Lab
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Party for the Playground is a fundraiser for the Child Development Laboratory at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, a chance to help repair and improve the playground damaged in the big May 8 storm of 2009.
The Child Development Laboratory Advisory Council is sponsoring the Party for the Playground from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at Blue Sky Vineyard. The event features hors d’oeuvres, wine, live musical entertainment and a silent auction.

All proceeds benefit the Child Development Lab and its work. The lab serves as an educational training center for SIUC students majoring in early childhood education within the Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education and Human Services. Offering high-quality child care for children from the ages of 6 weeks to 6 years, the center also enhances the field of child development through research.
Located on the campus of SIUC, the center’s playground suffered damage in the May 8, 2009 derecho, and this benefit will also help complete repairs and improvements while supporting the Child Development Lab.
