SIUC workshop boosts leadership skills

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Leadership styles are as varied as the people they belong to.

“Conducting a Leadership Symphony:  Shifting Keys” is a free workshop Sept. 15 for all Southern Illinois University Carbondale faculty and staff, offering helpful information about leadership styles and how to make them work.  The program from Labor and Employee Relations is set for 9:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Student Health Center, rooms 111 and 112.

Carol Fisher, workforce learning and development officer, will offer information about when it’s best to use different leadership styles in order to help employees achieve their goals and excel.  She’ll examine directive and maintenance behavior, development levels and other facets of the picture as well.

Participants can register as they walk in or by sending an RSVP email to Fisher at cefisher@siu.edu.
