Faculty, staff welcome at Sept. 8 workshop
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- “The Value of Voltage: Connect the Disconnects” is the title of a free Sept. 8 workshop open to all Southern Illinois University Carbondale faculty and staff.
The workshop runs 9:30-11:30 a.m. in Rooms 111-112 of the Student Health Center.
Carol Fisher, workforce learning and development officer, will present the Labor and Employee Relations workshop. She will discuss actions people can take to develop solutions to address campus problems and how they can recognize inappropriate behavior. She’ll also offer ideas for steering communication to focus on positive solutions.
Fisher said she’ll talk of the importance of getting the facts, determining priorities, being specific, focusing on the most relevant issue and the need to pay attention rather than just win. It’s also about accountability and the willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions.
Participants can register as they arrive for the workshop or by sending an RSVP email to Fisher at email@example.com.
