Media Advisory -- Debate Analysis
There is an art and a method to presidential candidate debates, the subtleties of which sometimes require expert interpretation. Todd Graham, director of the successful debate program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is available for commentary on debates throughout this campaign season.
Graham provides expert commentary for CNN Opinion online, and has also provided commentary for a wide variety of regional and local news organizations, including radio, television and print outlets.
Men’s Health interviewed Graham about argument style in personal relationships for the online component of its nationally distributed magazine.
As SIUC’s director of debate, Graham has coached teams to top positions in the National Championship of Parliamentary Debate, including winning the national championship in 2008 and placing in the top three in following years. U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello and Sen. Dick Durbin officially congratulated Graham and his team for their success, and Costello read a statement into the Congressional Record noting the achievement. The Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate also both honored Graham and his debate team for their successes.
Graham is a past recipient of the Ross K. Smith National Debate Coach of the Year award.
