Media Advisory -- Summer Commencement
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s summer 2011 commencement ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the SIU Arena.
There are approximately 1,720 candidates for degrees. Undergraduates from each of the University’s eight colleges, the SIU School of Law, and master’s and doctoral candidates will participate in the combined ceremony.
There are 1,234 candidates for bachelor’s degrees, 36 candidates for associate degrees, 383 candidates for master’s degrees, 65 candidates for doctoral degrees, and two candidates for law degrees. The ceremonies are free and open to the public.
The respective colleges are Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Arts, Business, Education and Human Services, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Mass Communication and Media Arts, and Science.
