Flags lowered to honor state representative

Under a proclamation signed by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, the United States flag and the Illinois flag are at half-staff at all State of Illinois facilities beginning today, Wednesday, June 8, until sunset, Friday, June 10, to honor state Rep. Mark H. Beaubien, Jr.
Beaubien, R-Barrington Hills, died Sunday, June 5, while at an event with family, friends, and colleagues for Illinois House Republicans at Arlington Park Racetrack, according to news reports. Beaubien, 68, an assistant House Republican leader, served seven terms in the Illinois House. He was appointed in 1996 to fill a vacancy and re-elected to six additional terms.
A Waukegan native, Beaubien earned his bachelor and law degrees from Northwestern University, and formerly served on the Lake County Board.
