Ten Questions with ... Jaime Conley-Holt
Job on campus/department you work in: Career Services Specialist
How long at SIUC: Six years as professional staff (my SIUC anniversary is Valentine’s Day!)
Hometown: Du Quoin
When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up? Marine biologist or veterinarian
If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why? Author. I would love to leave my thoughts and ideas behind for future generations to read.
What is something you still want to accomplish in life? I have a bucket list a mile long! A few items on that list: swim with sharks, scuba dive to a sunken ship, go zorbing (you get in a ball with water and roll down a hill -- http://www.zorb.com/), and travel around the world!!
People don’t know that you … I was born in Australia, to two American teachers (both graduates of the SIUC teacher education program), who traveled across the world to help with a teacher shortage (in the late 70s.)
What was the first “album” you ever bought, and was it an LP, 8-track or CD? My first LP was Olivia Newton John’s “Let’s Get Physical” ….my favorite song when I was 3 years old!
If you could pick an actor/actress to play you in a movie, who would you pick, and why? Joan Cusack. She is down to earth, funny and plays a crazy (but loving) mom role very well.
What is one random fact about you? I’ve climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I highly recommend it! Check out the view at www.bridgeclimb.com.
Cats or dogs? Tough call…cats are less work, but dogs are more fun. I’ll go with dogs.
What is your pet peeve? People who are determined to be miserable.
What would you like your gravestone to say about you? I would like my gravestone to have a genealogical map of my family. My lovely mother takes me along on her genealogy investigations in cemeteries. I’ve lost count on the number of gravestones I’ve had to analyze; a chart would make the research so much more efficient!
