Etiquette is on the menu at dinner for students

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Students can learn how to put their best foot forward when they find themselves at a business or formal dinner by participating in the annual Spring 2011 Professional Etiquette Dinner.

University Housing’s Residence Hall Dining is sponsoring the event from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in the Lentz Hall Dining Room #5.

SIUC students will dine on a five-course meal that the acclaimed Chef Bill and his culinary staff will prepare. While participants enjoy the food, they’ll learn how to make a great impression when dining out at business meetings, seminars, interviews or even social occasions. They’ll learn about choosing a wardrobe to make a good impression, proper handshake techniques, confidently marketing themselves during interviews while presenting their skills and character and much more.

Tickets are $15 each and you can buy then in the Residence Hall Dining Office on the lower level of Grinnell Hall. Ticket sales are in advance only and purchase is required no later than Friday, April 8. The office is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Organizers recommend that students wear office attire to the Etiquette Dinner. For more information call 618/453-3788 or 618/453-2649 or email cgalle@siu.edu.
