'Gathering Against Sexual Violence' is next week

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the surrounding community are joining for "The Gathering Against Sexual Violence" on Wednesday, April 6.

Everyone is welcome to meet at the SIUC Student Health Center Auditorium at 5 p.m. for an interactive discussion about sexual violence. Then, to raise awareness of sexual assault and in a show of support for survivors of gender violence, those attending will walk from campus to The Women’s Center.

Derrick Williams, violence prevention coordinator at the Student Health Center, will facilitate the dialogue and walk. The event will wrap up about 7 p.m.

There is no cost to participate and everyone is welcome.

The Student Health Center’s Wellness Center is sponsoring a variety of workshops this semester highlighting a wide assortment of health-related topics.
