Saluki CEO Corps selling Valentine’s Day cakes

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Combine aspiring college entrepreneurs and a sweet holiday and what do you get? The mix means the opportunity to make Valentine’s Day special for someone and help advance the career aspirations of members of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Saluki CEO Corps.

The Saluki CEO Corps, a registered student organization, is teaming with Larry’s House of Cakes to offer for sale heart-shaped cakes for Valentine’s Day. You can order the single layer, eight-inch cakes in white, chocolate or red velvet flavor with red, pink or white icing and they will personalize them with messages of your choosing. The cakes are $15 each. Orders and payment are due by Friday, Feb. 11.

The cakes will be ready for pick-up at Rehn Hall on the SIUC campus on Valentine’s Day between 9:30 a.m. and noon or 2-4 p.m. or by special arrangements upon request.

The Saluki CEO Corps will use proceeds of the cake sale to help cover costs of attending the fall CEO Conference, an event helping students learn more about entrepreneurship and the world of business. The Saluki CEO Corps, founded in 2008, is open to all SIUC students interested in entrepreneurship. Members participate in a variety of events and hands-on learning experiences, including the cake sale and the CEO Conference.
