Recreation Center to host ‘School Daze Off’

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Recreational Sports and Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is offering a special treat for children on select elementary and junior high school holidays this spring.

School Daze Off promises youngsters in kindergarten through eighth grade a fun, safe day camp featuring a variety of entertaining, theme-related activities under the supervision of trained personnel.

The events are set for Feb. 21, March 17, March 18 and April 22. The program runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early drop-off is at 7:30 a.m. and late pick-up is at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center’s small gymnasium.

School Daze Off includes sports, crafts, games, learning experiences and snacks. And, each day there’s time for swimming in the Student Recreation Center pool.

Participants should bring swimsuits, towels, and a lunch.

The cost is $25 per child for the children of SIUC students, $40 per child for Student Recreation Center members or $55 per child for non-members. The children of faculty, staff, students and community members are welcome to participate in School Daze Off.

Space is limited. Registration is on a first-come basis so sign up early. The registration deadlines are as follows:

• Feb. 18 for the Feb. 21 event.

• March 16 for the March 17 and March 18 School Daze.

• April 18 for the April 22 program.
