Student Center hosts Bridal Extravaganza Jan. 23

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Long before the awed wedding crowd hears the refrains of Richard Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin” (“Here Comes the Bride”) most brides will have spent a good deal of time planning their dream day. An event later this month at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is a one-stop spot to spend a fun afternoon and plan a memorable gala.

The 20th annual Bridal Extravaganza is set for Jan. 23 in the Student Center Ballrooms. Beginning at noon, vendors from all over will showcase their products and services. Displays will spotlight wedding wear, catering, event planning, photography, entertainment, music, floral arrangements, videography, décor and virtually anything and everything else you’ll need to make your wedding day special.

Chat with wedding professionals and get their advice about every wedding question you may have. In the past two decades, Southern Illinois’ premier bridal event has helped hundreds of brides plan unforgettable wedding days.

The main event, the big fashion show, kicks off at 3 p.m. It’s a chance to see all of the newest trends and traditional favorites in clothing for the entire wedding party from bridal gowns to tuxedos to mother-of-the-bride apparel.

Admission to the Bridal Extravaganza is $5 per person. No pre-registration or advance ticket purchase is required. For more information, contact Student Center Special Programs and Center Events (SPACE) at 618/453-1142 or visit the website at www.siucstudentcenter.org.

Vendors who would like to register to participate can do so online at that website, or for registration details or more information contact Susan Coriasco at 618/453-1142.
