Flags lowered to honor Tucson shooting victims
Under a proclamation signed by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, the United States flag and the Illinois flag are to be at half-staff at all State of Illinois facilities to honor the victims of the tragic shootings in Tucson, Ariz.
Flags are to be flown at half-staff beginning immediately, Monday, Jan. 10, until Friday, Jan. 14, on behalf of “The Victims of the Tragedy in Tucson, Arizona.”
Reports say a 22-year-old suspect, Jared Lee Lougher, allegedly shot U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., and 19 other people as Giffords was holding a town hall meeting. Six people, including a 9-year-old girl, died in the attack. Giffords was seriously injured in the assassination attempt.
