Popular Saluki Finals Finish set for Dec. 13-14

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Salukis are accustomed to doing everything with finesse and that includes preparing for final exams.

Saluki Finals Finish is set for Dec. 13-14 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Student Recreation Center. From 6 to 11 p.m. both days, students can gather for study groups or individual study, free food, recreation and more. University faculty and staff volunteer to serve free food and beverages as students prepare for exams, work off a bit of stress, socialize and even absorb a little moral support.

The free event typically draws thousands of students, according to Gary Tisdale, assistant director of marketing for the Student Recreation Center. And it’s nothing for them to consume a ton of food as they prepare mind and body for finals. This marks the 13th Saluki Finals Finish, initially an annual event that’s become so popular it now happens at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

Additional faculty and staff volunteers are welcome to help. To lend a hand, contact Tisdale at gtisdale@siu.edu or by telephone at 618/453-1225.

Providing support for Saluki Finals Finish are the Graduate School, Library Affairs, School of Law, School of Medicine, and the colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Arts, Business, Education and Human Services, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Mass Communication and Media Arts and Science.
