Artists can donate works to Art Over Easy 6
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Part social event, part fundraiser and all art show, Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Art Over Easy 6 is on the horizon. And what does Art Over Easy need to get started? Art!
Peter Chametzky, director of the School of Art and Design, noted that previous Art Over Easy events have indeed made a difference in the school, raising critical funds that benefit all students in the art programs.
This year, for each of up to two donated works valued at $50 or more, the donor receives a complementary ticket to the event. Donated art is also eligible for the Juror Awards, selected by Paul Krainak, chair of the Department of Art at Bradley University. Categories include faculty, alumni, student and community artists.
Here are art drop-off dates, with collection in Room 111 of the Glove Factory at 432 S. Washington St. in Carbondale.
• Nov. 5, 10-noon
• Nov. 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Nov. 16, 4-7 p.m.
• Nov. 18, 5-7 p.m.
Artists who want their art included in the online catalog should send a digital photograph and information about both artist and art. A convenient way to include that information is on the “Gift-in-Kind Form,” which may be downloaded from the Art Over Easy 6 website, http://artanddesign.siuc.edu/newsevents/artovereasy/contribute.html. Send the photograph and description to Elizabeth Duncan Hunter at lduncan@siu.edu.
“We are counting again on your generosity and your participation,” Chametzky said. “We expect we will once again have a large turnout for the event, with drinks, food, music and art providing for a great evening.”
