Media Advisory -- ROTC ‘High Ropes’ exercise
Cadets from Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps will be conducting their “High Ropes Course” training at the University’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center later this week.
Approximately 80 cadets will participate in the exercise, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 15, at the facility about seven miles south of Carbondale near Giant City State Park. The two-day exercise is designed for cadets “to develop confidence in themselves while enhancing their leadership abilities and instilling the Army values,” according to an SIUC Army news release.
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover the exercise. The course, however, is limited to ROTC cadets unless prior arrangements are made. Participating cadets and ROTC officers will be available for interviews. For more information on the exercise or to make arrangements for interviews, contact Capt. Jonathan A. Cape or Sgt. First Class Joshua Lueker at 618/453-7563 or by email at cape@siu.edu.
