SIUC names homecoming royalty, honorees

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Krystin McDermott of Beach Park and Guillermo Flores of Villa Park are the 2010 Southern Illinois University Carbondale Homecoming queen and king.

The University’s student body selected the royalty via online voting. McDermott and Flores claimed their crowns at the coronation Saturday, Oct. 9, during halftime of the football game in which the SIUC Salukis beat the Northern Iowa Panthers in overtime.

Here is the complete 2010 Homecoming Court, listed by city with year at the University and major, included:

• Rico Jackson, master’s graduate student, public administration

The theme for Homecoming 2010 was “Saluki Shore” and the celebration featured numerous special activities and happenings including tailgate celebrations, movies, reunions and a big parade.

• 2nd- National Association of Black Journalists

• 3rd- Jackson County Girl Scouts

• 3rd- Murphysboro Apple Festival Queen
