Haunted Hollow promises spooky good time
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A bewitchingly good time awaits visitors to Haunted Hollow at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center this Halloween season.
The spooky thrills include a haunted cabin, trick-or-treating, face painting, a campfire complete with ghost stories and other eerily entertaining happenings. Haunted Hollow runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Touch of Nature Environmental Center, about seven miles south of Carbondale off Giant City Road.
Although Haunted Hollow is geared toward youngsters age 5 to 12 and their families, everyone is welcome. Organizers encourage participants to wear costumes. The fun goes on rain or shine.
The staff at Touch of Nature and students from SIUC’s Program Design and Group Dynamics class in the Department of Health Education and Recreation are joining forces to make Haunted Hollow 2010 a great experience.
Haunted Hollow is free but you must pre-register no later than 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 by calling Touch of Nature at 618/453-1121. Upon arrival at the event, parents will need to fill out permission/waiver forms.
