CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s School of Accountancy is hosting a Career Fair Thursday, Sept. 23, from 2-5 p.m. in the International Lounge at the Student Center.

All accounting majors will find this 10th annual event valuable. According to Marcus D. Odom, director of the accountancy school in SIUC’s College of Business, the fair will feature representation from the “Big Four” international accounting firms as well as from a variety of major regional and private firms and governmental agencies. “This is a very important event that the School of Accountancy hosts for our majors to provide them with the opportunity to interact with the professionals from the accounting profession. It offers our students the opportunity to interact with these professionals and get to know more about the companies and also to showcase their abilities. They can interact with major employers of our graduates. This event is one of the primary reasons that the School of Accountancy has such a high placement rate for our graduates,” Odom said.

In fact, Odom said several of the participating firms already have interview sessions planned on campus.

A reception and social mixer will follow the Accountancy Career Fair. Light refreshments will be served.
