Student Leadership Conference set for Oct. 2

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The 2010 Southern Illinois University Carbondale Leadership Conference gives student leaders a chance to develop their leadership skills and share their experiences with other students. The student-led program from Student Development will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct.2 at the Student Center.

The conference features presentations from students, faculty, staff and community members on what it takes to become a successful leader. Topics covered typically include leadership skills, networking, teamwork, recruitment, social justice, entering the business world, environmentally friendly living, healthy lifestyles and more.

Whether you are an experienced leader or someone who would like to be a leader among peers, University students will find helpful ideas and information at the 2010 Leadership Conference. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 29. The cost is $5 and covers breakfast and materials. You can register at the Student Development office on the third floor of the Student Center.

Sponsors include the chancellor’s office, Student Development and the colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Science, Business, Mass Communication and Media Arts, Applied Sciences and Arts, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Education and Human Services.
