19 rugby teams to compete in Ruggapalooza 2010
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Ruggapalooza 2010 is here! And just what on earth is a ruggapalooza, you may ask?
Ruggapalooza 2010 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is a gigantic rugby tournament offering spectators the opportunity to see 19 rugby teams from as far away as the west coast and Canada in action on Saturday, Sept. 4.
The SIUC Women’s Rugby Club is hosting the event at the soccer fields just south of the Abe Martin baseball field. Tournament play includes men’s and women’s teams in competition from about 8 a.m. until about 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the 11th annual Ruggapalooza. Admission is free.
The event also features music from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those attending the festival can purchase concessions on the grounds as well.
The Women’s Rugby Club (e-mail info@siuwomensrugby.com) and the Men’s Rugby Club (e-mail siurugby@yahoo.com) are two of the hundreds of Registered Student Organizations at SIUC.
