Openings remain for CampCEO Crash Course

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A few open spots remain for this summer’s popular youth entrepreneurship camp, CampCEO Crash Course, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The nationally recognized camp is set for July 9 with high school students from all over the region and beyond participating. It begins at 9 a.m. at the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center, 150 E. Pleasant Hill Road.

The day will include development training and networking with entrepreneurs in the region. They will visit successful local businesses and get financial advice and information about marketing concepts. By the time the event wraps up at 6 p.m., the youths will have experienced business entrepreneurship up close and personal.

The cost of the camp is $49 and that includes breakfast, lunch and a snack along with camp materials, a T-shirt and transportation to the various participating sites during the day. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and the maximum registration is 28 teens. Spots typically fill up fast so organizers encourage early registration.

To register, or for more information about CampCEO Crash Course, contact the Southern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center at 618/453-3805 or e-mail info@campceo.biz. Or, visit the camp website at www.campceo.biz.

The camp originated six years ago as a weeklong fun learning experience for teenage entrepreneurs, but due to the economic situation, the camp transitioned to a one-day format in 2009 and was such a success, it returns in that format for 2010. The Southern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center at SIUC hosts CampCEO Crash Course. Regional business partners assisting include Regions Bank, Arthur Agency, WSIL TV, Sao’s Asian Bistro and Black Diamond Harley-Davidson.
