Baseball camp registration deadline approaches

by Amanda Scott

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Saluki Baseball Camp returns for the 2010 season this summer at Abe Martin Field for youths ages 7-13.

The Saluki Baseball Camp runs June 7-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. This is a commuter camp only, with lunch provided for all campers each day.

This camp is for young players who love the sport of baseball and want to improve their hitting, bunting and base running skills as well as their infield and outfield play. They’ll also work on pitching and specific position techniques.

The campers will separate according to ability and/or age groups for more individualized instruction. All players will have access to SIUC baseball facilities and will participate in individual instruction and supervised game activity.

The Saluki baseball coaching staff of Dan Callahan, Ken Henderson and Tim Dixon will lead the camp instruction. Featured instructors will also include Saluki players and area high school and college coaches.

Individual registration fees are $175 if registration and deposit are in by May 28. A $50 deposit will hold a spot. Teams of six or more may register for $155 per person by the May 28 deadline. Registrations received after the early registration deadline will be assessed an additional $10 fee per participant. All camp participants will receive a camp T-shirt, baseball cap, and limited accidental medical coverage.
