Ten questions with ... Evelyn Koine

Job on campus/department you work in: Assistant Director of International Programs and Services and Director of International Admissions

How long at SIUC: 33+ years

Hometown: Carbondale

When you were a youngster, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher.

People don’t know that you… Though I have 22 grandchildren, I could not stand to be a classroom teacher.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be and why? Fashion design and crafting, because it is fun, relaxing and makes others happy.

What is something you still want to accomplish in life? Be my brothers/sisters keeper!

What was the first “album” you ever bought, and was it an LP, 8-track or CD? I bought it (not my sister) – it was an LP by Aretha Franklin.

If you could pick an actor/actress to play you in a movie, who would you pick and why?Jennifer Hudson. She looks like me (smile), and she could act like she cannot sing in the church choir.

What is one random fact about you? I like old buildings.

Cats or dogs? Neither. I prefer fish.

What is your favorite food and why? Pure Hot Artichoke Dip, no spinach, please.

Who has inspired you, and how? My mother, Eurma C. Hayes -- by being a friend to the community and doing unto others as she would have done to her.
