Geography-Environmental Resources reception set
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Department of Geography and Environmental Resources presents its annual Awards Reception and Student Research Showcase on Friday, May 7.
The showcase and reception is 2-3 p.m. in Faner Hall, Room 2533. The showcase features semester or yearlong research projects by student research teams. The research focuses on such areas as sustainability, area geographic features such as wetlands or bluffs, and GIS-based research.
The reception also honors the recipients of the department’s Annual Achievement Awards and the Gamma Theta Upsilon honorary inductees. GTU is an international honor society in geography. SIUC is home to the Lambda Chapter. Members must meet academic requirements and share an interest in geography.
Admission to the reception is free.
