CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Division of Continuing Education will offer four tennis camps or academies this summer for youths entering grades 3-12 who want to build their knowledge and skills on the court.

Camp participants will receive training in mental toughness and visualization techniques along with footwork and conditioning specialized for tennis. During the sessions, participants will get a video analysis of their strokes and match analysis as well as strategy tips. They’ll enjoy single and double match play too. All participants receive a written evaluation at the completion of camp. Resident campers will enjoy evening activities with camp instructors as well.

Top college players will be assisting SIUC's head men's and women’s tennis coaches Dann Nelson and Audra Nothwehr for the 2010 camp season.

Tennis Camp I is set for June 13-16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Players entering grades 7-12 may register as commuter or resident campers. Players entering grades 3-6 may only participate as commuters. The residential camper fee for Camp I is $365 for registrations received by May 28 and $395 for registrations received after the early bird deadline.
